Each night, Ning helps his parents light bright orange lanterns to frighten the night spirits that used to terrorize the village. Secretly, he wonders if they are really as bad as everyone says. One night, Ning meets a creature who introduces him to the spirits’ secret world, where he learns that things aren’t as they seem.
