The Time Machine
I was over at my best friend’s house after school one Friday afternoon. We heard strange beeping sounds coming from the basement. We walked downstairs to investigate.
My friend and I saw a large machine in the middle of the basement, with lots of flashing lights and buttons. We ducked to enter the small door of the machine.
We saw one knob, angled to the left and pointing to the word TODAY. To the right of that setting were the words FIVE YEARS LATER.
Confused, I looked at my friend. She looked right back at me.
My friend reached for the knob and turned it to the right… FIVE YEARS LATER…

and as soon as she did, there was a huge light that almost blinded my eyes! 10 seconds later, we were at the same spot but there was something different. The basement was dirtier than before and there was far more stuff in there than before. My friend and I was literally speechless but my friend was in a different way than me! My friend was excited to explore while I was scared. She grabbed my hand and pulled me up. We went upstairs and we saw our own selves! Well, not like in a mirror but in real life! We were taller and we barely recognized our 5 year older selves. My friend went up to her older self and introduced herself and surprisingly, her older self didn’t seem to surprised and then it hit me that since this is us 5 years later, they must have a memory of them doing this. I didn’t want to spend one more minute in here because our parents must be looking for us and so I grabbed her hand and turned the time machine’s knob to 5 years earlier. Now that I think of it, it was fun!
