Fortune Cookie
Every Friday night, Marcus’s family would order takeout food. They took turns picking a local restaurant. This Friday, it was his little sister Kara’s turn to pick. She chose the nearby Chinese restaurant. Marcus ordered chicken balls with rice.
When Marcus finished eating the last of the rice on his plate, he stood up to bring his empty plate to the counter by the sink.
“Hey, don’t forget about the fortune cookies, Marcus!” his mother said.
“Oh yeah,” thought Marcus—the fortune cookies. The fortunes were always so lame. Most of the time they didn’t even make sense. But his family always made a big deal out of them.
Kara went first. She read it silently and laughed. Then she read it aloud: “Mine says, You will live long enough to open many more fortune cookies.”
Everyone laughed except Marcus.
“I’ll go next,” said his mom excitedly. “You will be hungry again in one hour.” This time Marcus couldn’t help but chuckle.
“You will be a superstar karaoke singer,” his dad screamed out. “They know me too well!” he giggled.
Marcus cracked open his cookie and pulled out the little slip of paper. He read it silently. “Marcus, do not read this out loud. Tomorrow, go to the backyard. Take three large steps past the juneberry tree and then one step to the right. Dig a hole 2 metres deep. Don’t tell anyone about this.”
“What does it say, Marcus?” Kara asked.
“Oh, um, it says, “Good things come to those who wait,” He lied.
The next day was Saturday. Marcus woke up at 7 a.m. while everyone was still sleeping. He went to the garage, grabbed a shovel, and headed to the backyard…

and dug where the cookie said to. Clang! he hit something hard. He carefully dug around it. It was a metal chest! he pulled it out and opened it. To his surprise it was full of gold coins! He was going to be rich!
Marcus dug and dug until he had reached a hard solid rock. But it wasn’t any ordinary rock. It was glowing a strange green. Marcus leaned in to get a closer look at the glowing rock. He leaned in so much, he fell in to the pit he had dug up himself. He expected to bump his head hard on the rock, but instead, he went head first into the rock, and began quickly sinking through it. He landed in a sort of fairy tale dimension. Marcus turned around, and the last thing he saw before he woke up was a goblin holding a club. “What a horrible dream,” Marcus said to himself.
He did exactly what the fortune cookie said. he dug a hole and at first saw nothing. then, he found 20 LIVE poop emojis and they made him dirty for the rest or his life. the end
Markus then dug a hole and found a treasure chest and a key. He opened the chest and found free tickets to see Mamma Mia! He went to the movie theatre and they said they were fake:( so Markus said to himself fortune cookies are useless.
Marcus dug and dug but he found nothing so he went back. the next time he went to the Chinese restaurant he got another note saying now go to the juneberry bush and dig 5 steps ahead but Marcus didn’t bother and years later gold worth 200 million was found there by the next owners of the house. sorry Marcus
He decided to do as the fortune cookie said. He took three big steps past the juneberry tree and one step to the right. He dug a hole that was two meters deep. Marcus looked into the hole he had dug to find nothing there.”I told you these cookies were worthless” Marcus sighed. Then he had a thought.”How did that fortune cookie know my name?”. Marcus felt weird. He wanted to go back to his room. But at that moment when he turned around to go back in his house he saw a strange figure. He advanced a step to take a better look at it. The figure resembled more and more to a person the closer he walked. It had a black cloak covering his body and head, but his face was not visible.”It was I who created that fortune cookie, Marcus” it said. Marcus was scared. “H h how do you know my name?” Marcus mumbled.” How do I know your name? Ha ha ha. What kind of question is that? Marcus…”. “Yes…” Marcus said. “ I am your father!” the person screamed.”What…I mean,no your not my dad.”TO CONTINUE
and did exactly what the fortune cookie told him. then the next day when he woke up he mother told him that there would be no more school since this amazing scientist created this cool drink that makes you know everything you would need in your life. then Marcus lived happily ever after
he dug the hole two meters deep.and found gold! he took it inside and slid it under his bed and smiled. the end.

His family and friends was there. Marcus couldn’t help but laugh. “Thanks guys. I didn’t think you have remembered.”

After that he headed to the pot and found out that there was already a hole!! He checked out the hole and he saw a PS 4!!!! And there was a note on it that said” We hope this has changed your perspective on fortune cookies”,and it was signed by “Anonymous.” Marcus for a split second wondered who might have sent this and who dug the hole and everything, but before that he first had to play his PS 4!!!!
then he started digging and digging and digging. Once he hit 2 meters he found a pot of gold. He knew it wasn’t nice to keep it all to himself. So he decided to share it with his family and his friends THE END
He did as the cookie said and he found a giant box of many more fortune cookies for his sister, a tape of his mom one hour after they ate and saying that she was hungry and an electric guitar for his dad. That was his sisters, moms and dads fortune.their fortune would come true. But what about his. Under all that he found a chest filled with gold.
He got preety curious so he did as the fortune has told him to. However, when he did the first step,he found an old pot. But this was not a normal pot, it can speak! Suprising huh!
