TDSRC and COVID-19: Update 2

Hello,

We hope this finds you and your loved ones well and safe. Here is an update on the TD Summer Reading Club and how it is impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

We regret to inform you that we have cancelled the three official Get Your Summer Read On events that were scheduled for June 2020. Given the exceptional situation and the instructions from our governments on gatherings, we feel it would be irresponsible for us to move forward with planning these events.

There is, however, some good news. First, Hannah Promotions has extended the deadline for ordering promotional items to April 17. You can check out the items at hannahpromotions-tdsrc.ca.

Second, we are pleased to announce the launch of our new Facebook group “TD Summer Reading Club community_La communauté du Club de lecture d’été TD.” Whether you are seasoned library staff or a first-time volunteer, this is a members-only supportive platform where you can share tips, program successes and best practices, as well as ask questions within our community. To join, click on the group name above and choose “Join Group” once you are on Facebook. 

Third, we are also working to support libraries and families by providing more online content in case service disruptions and physical distancing measures continue into the summer. This will include children’s author and illustrator workshops and readings on our online platforms. Please use your library’s online platforms to direct families to tdsrc.ca and our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram sites. On the TD SRC site, kids will be able to track their reading, access free ebooks and engage in related activities, such as the workshops noted above and the new Battle of the Books. Online participation will count towards your library’s registrations and we will be reporting on the number of online notebook registrations per library.
